fall wedding at abella weddings and events | mariah & tanner

Mariah and Tanner’s fall wedding took place at Abella Weddings and Events. Their wedding day was unseasonably warm for November – 70 degrees and sunny! Weeks leading up to the wedding we were constantly watching the weather forecast. At first it said a high of 45 and continued going up from there! It was the perfect day!

Mariah and I met at Winona State University. We were college roommates! I had the honor of being her matron of honor and photographer! I hired Maire McMahon as an associate for the day and was able to shoot alongside Maire during most of the day. The wedding party was filled with friends from college, high school, and siblings. Although, I don’t know how good of groomsmen Tanner had selected. When asked to throw Tanner up for a photo, all of his friends proceeded to drop Tanner on the ground. Whoops! Tanner spent his morning playing table soccer, while the girls got their hair and makeup done on site.

Mariah and Tanner read their vows to one another before their first look. Mariah’s father built the arch that was behind them during the ceremony. I loved being able to work at Abella, because it’s a stunning venue! You can tell Teri really put in a lot of thought during the building process.

Mariah made sure to create a romantic, boho-themed wedding with touches of wicker, pampas grass, and lanterns. One of Tanner’s groomsmen tested positive for COVID-19, so we made sure Hayden was able to attend in cardboard cutout form. My favorite part of the day was incorporating Hayden, the cardboard cutout! The florist even pinned his boutonniere on him.

Knowing Mariah and Tanner from the start of their relationship, it was so amazing to watch it come full circle. Tanner is the perfect match for Mariah; they complement each other beautifully with their quirks and goofy sides. Check out some of the highlights from Mariah and Tanner’s fall, boho-style Abella Wedding below!

Courtney and Todd started their wedding festivities at Todd’s Oma and Opa’s house in Baltimore, Maryland. The rehearsal dinner was set in the backyard underneath a tent. Right away you could feel the love both families have for Courtney and Todd. Todd’s grandma introduced herself to every guest saying, “Call me Oma.” Immediately, everyone felt like they were a part of the family.

On the wedding day, there were hints of Star Wars, since the wedding was on May 4th. Courtney even surprised Todd with his very own lightsaber entrance to the reception. Courtney’s uncles officiated the wedding at Shrine of the Sacred Heart church. After the ceremony, the wedding party took a limo to the Elkridge Country Club for the reception. Courtney and Todd rode in a vintage car. The Sandbergs know how to throw a party; which I think runs in the family. Oma definitely stole the show with her dance moves.

The reception ended at 8pm, but that didn’t mean the party was ending. Guests were asked to make their way outside for a sparkler exit, and then the party was going to continue on back at the hotel bar. Everyone got in their comfy clothes and continued the celebration.

I don’t think Courtney and Todd could have asked for a more perfect wedding or day. It was exactly as they envisioned, surrounded by their closest friends and family.
